                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious

 1-2     natural resource, and excellence in public education is an endeavor

 1-3     in which all Texans have a stake; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Marfa Elementary School in Marfa has been recognized

 1-5     by Texas Monthly magazine as one of the state's most outstanding

 1-6     schools, and this remarkable accomplishment is indeed worthy of

 1-7     special praise and recognition; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, The magazine's rankings were based on the

 1-9     performance of students on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills

1-10     (TAAS) test, and designations of one to four stars were assigned to

1-11     the state's best schools; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Marfa Elementary School's rating of one star is a

1-13     fitting tribute to the hard work and dedication of the school's

1-14     students, parents, faculty, and staff, and it is a privilege to

1-15     honor them for their achievement at this time; now, therefore, be

1-16     it

1-17           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-18     Legislature hereby commend all those associated with Marfa

1-19     Elementary School for its designation as one of the state's top

1-20     schools and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued

1-21     success and happiness in the future; and, be it further

1-22           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

1-23     prepared for display at Marfa Elementary School as an expression of

1-24     high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
