No. 977 75R9821 JHS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On February 11, 1997, several employees of the Texas 1-2 Real Estate Commission responded to an emergency when Mr. Ernie 1-3 Ford collapsed in a parking lot after suffering a stroke or heart 1-4 attack; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Employees Margaret Goddard and Kim Tindall 1-6 discovered Mr. Ford, and Ms. Tindall went for help while 1-7 Ms. Goddard stayed with the unconscious gentleman; several workers 1-8 witnessed the incident from inside their offices and, recognizing 1-9 the dire circumstances, telephoned for emergency medical 1-10 assistance; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Other employees rushed to the scene of the accident, 1-12 where Glen Bridge had begun administering CPR while his fellow 1-13 employees continued to monitor the situation, maintaining contact 1-14 with medical personnel over the telephone; the cool-headedness and 1-15 quick reactions of these fine citizens allowed time for members of 1-16 the emergency medical service to reach Mr. Ford and transport him 1-17 to the hospital; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The altruism displayed on that day by the many 1-19 individuals who took responsibility for the life of a stranger is 1-20 truly inspirational, and this spirit of selflessness and devotion 1-21 is indeed deserving of our highest praise and recognition; now, 1-22 therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby commend Glen Bridge, Mary Elizabeth Callahan, 2-1 Susie De La Rosa, Don Dudley, Margaret Goddard, and Kim Tindall for 2-2 their humanitarian efforts in rendering aid to a fellow Texan in 2-3 need; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for these exemplary individuals as an expression of 2-6 highest regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
