No. 996 75R15212 JTR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Eucolia Erby, Sr., has distinguished himself as a 1-2 great humanitarian and a public-spirited citizen, and his many 1-3 notable contributions are indeed deserving of special praise and 1-4 recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A Texas native, Mr. Erby has lived in Waco since 1-6 1920, and through the years he has given freely of his time and 1-7 talent to a number of worthy causes; a valued member of New Hope 1-8 Baptist Church, he has also served on the Kate Ross Council and is 1-9 a former advisor to the A. J. Moore High School Alumni Association; 1-10 and 1-11 WHEREAS, Mr. Erby's commitment to serving others is perhaps 1-12 most aptly embodied in his 55 years of service to the Tejas Council 1-13 of Camp Fire Boys and Girls, and the group's many worthwhile 1-14 programs have greatly benefited from his wide breadth of experience 1-15 and wise counsel; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mr. Erby is not the only member of his family 1-17 associated with the Camp Fire organization, and his daughters, 1-18 LaVonne Brown and Billie Nash, and granddaughters, LaShawn Brown 1-19 and Angela Nunley, have all upheld the family tradition through 1-20 their participation in the group; and 1-21 WHEREAS, In celebration of his tenure as an indispensable 1-22 asset to the group, members of Camp Fire's Tejas Council recently 1-23 honored Mr. Erby with the dedication of Eucolia Erby Orchard at 1-24 Camp Val Verde, and this tribute to his life and work is a fitting 2-1 reflection of his rich legacy of community service; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Eucolia Erby's enthusiasm and generosity of spirit 2-3 have made the world a better place for his fellow Texans, and it is 2-4 indeed fitting at this time to recognize him for his lifetime of 2-5 service; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby commend Eucolia Erby, Sr., on his many 2-8 remarkable accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes 2-9 for continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for Mr. Erby as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-12 House of Representatives.
