R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Charles T. Barrett, Jr., has distinguished himself 1-2 as an astute businessman and a public-spirited citizen, and it is 1-3 indeed fitting at this time to recognize his many achievements; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, Mr. Barrett is a graduate 1-5 of Jefferson High School and attended St. Mary's University, where 1-6 he received a bachelor's degree in business before becoming a 1-7 certified public accountant; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Barrett currently serves as the president of 1-9 Manchester Financial Corporation, and his keen grasp of economic 1-10 trends has ensured the asset management company's stature as a 1-11 leader in the Texas financial community; and 1-12 WHEREAS, He is also the majority stockholder in three San 1-13 Antonio automobile dealerships, and Motor Imports, West Loop 1-14 Mitsubishi, and Metro Mitsubishi are among the most successful 1-15 businesses of their type in the Southwest; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mr. Barrett has brought a wide breadth of experience 1-17 to his many business ventures, and in addition to his work as an 1-18 accountant, he has served as president of Express Cash 1-19 International Corporation and Barstan Interests, Inc.; an active 1-20 member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants 1-21 and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, he has given 1-22 freely of his time and talent to those organizations; and 1-23 WHEREAS, A former commander in the United States Coast Guard 1-24 Reserve, Mr. Barrett is committed to the betterment of his 2-1 community, and serves as treasurer on the board of the Mission Road 2-2 Developmental Center, and he is also a member of The University of 2-3 Texas Health Science Development Board of San Antonio and a trustee 2-4 of the University Health System Pension Plan Board; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Through his many contributions to his hometown, 2-6 Charles Barrett has secured his place in the history of the Alamo 2-7 City, and his life and work are indeed worthy of special 2-8 recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-9 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-10 Legislature hereby honor Charles T. Barrett, Jr., as an outstanding 2-11 Texan and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success 2-12 and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-14 prepared for Mr. Barrett as an expression of high regard by the 2-15 Texas House of Representatives.
