R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Sharon Carter has distinguished herself as a 1-2 dedicated public servant and valued employee of the Texas House of 1-3 Representatives, and it is indeed fitting at this time to recognize 1-4 her for her many contributions to the success of this body; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This legislative session marks Ms. Carter's first as 1-6 chief clerk of the house, and her astute and diligent stewardship 1-7 of the logistics of lawmaking have ensured the integrity and 1-8 security of the thousands of documents that move through this 1-9 chamber during the course of the session; and 1-10 WHEREAS, In addition to her responsibilities as chief clerk, 1-11 Ms. Carter has also served as assistant house parliamentarian since 1-12 the 71st legislative session, and her mastery of this difficult 1-13 body of knowledge has made her an indispensable asset to members of 1-14 the house; in addition to her many other duties, she deftly 1-15 organizes new member orientation each session and also played an 1-16 integral role in organizing this session's successful Speaker's Day 1-17 celebration; and 1-18 WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, 1-19 Ms. Carter was first employed by the legislature as a 1-20 sergeant-at-arms, but her keen intelligence and ability were 1-21 quickly noted, and since that time she has enjoyed similar success 1-22 in a number of positions with the legislature; and 1-23 WHEREAS, The members of the house of representatives are well 1-24 aware of both the challenging work environment of the legislative 2-1 session and the crucial importance of accuracy and efficiency in 2-2 the preparation of our legislation, and Ms. Carter's exemplary 2-3 efforts in our behalf have earned her our heartfelt admiration and 2-4 gratitude; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby honor Sharon Carter for her outstanding service 2-7 as chief clerk of the house of representatives and assistant house 2-8 parliamentarian and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued 2-9 success and happiness in all her endeavors; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for Ms. Carter as an expression of high regard by the 2-12 Texas House of Representatives.
