R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Each year, the Texas Association of Community 1-2 Schools' (TACS) Small Schools Academic Contest awards more than 1-3 $60,000 in scholarship funds to Texas students; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The contest, which took place this year on April 5, 1-5 1997, at Brownwood's Howard Payne University, is designed 1-6 specifically for students from schools with a University 1-7 Interscholastic League class rating of 3A or less; and 1-8 WHEREAS, This year, Dripping Springs High School's Adam 1-9 Robinson, Leslianne Wilder, and Michael Murphey earned more than 1-10 $12,500 to apply toward their college tuition; each of these 1-11 dedicated students has demonstrated expertise in the subjects of 1-12 English, math, science, and social studies, answering questions 1-13 based on the Texas Education Agency's standard curriculum; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The members of this chamber are proud to recognize 1-15 these outstanding students and to encourage them as they continue 1-16 in their quest to attain educational excellence; now, therefore, be 1-17 it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby congratulate Adam Robinson, Leslianne Wilder, 1-20 and Michael Murphey and their academic coach, Ellis Smith, on their 1-21 achievements at the Texas Association of Community Schools' Small 1-22 Schools Academic Contest and extend to them sincere best wishes for 1-23 continued success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it 1-24 further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for these exemplary students and for Mr. Smith as an 2-3 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
