R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, On May 28, 1997, Glenn Portia McGowan will retire

 1-2     from her position as a reading teacher in the North Forest

 1-3     Independent School District, and her many accomplishments are

 1-4     indeed worthy of special praise at this time; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, A gifted instructor, Mrs. McGowan began her career

 1-6     as an educator at Northwood Middle School in 1984 before

 1-7     transferring to B. C. Elmore Middle School, and her tenure as a

 1-8     teacher has been characterized by her unfailing commitment to the

 1-9     success of her students; and

1-10           WHEREAS, Before becoming a reading instructor, Mrs. McGowan

1-11     was a music teacher, and it is to this field that she now returns;

1-12     an outstanding  pianist, she has lent her time and talent to a

1-13     number of churches as an accompanist; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Through her dedication to the worthwhile work of

1-15     teaching, Glenn Portia McGowan has opened new vistas of opportunity

1-16     to the many students whose lives she has touched, and it is fitting

1-17     that she be recognized for her outstanding service to the

1-18     community; now, therefore, be it

1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-20     Legislature hereby honor Glenn Portia McGowan on the occasion of

1-21     her retirement from the North Forest Independent School District

1-22     and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and

1-23     happiness in the future; and, be it further

1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-1     prepared for Mrs. McGowan as an expression of high regard by the

 2-2     Texas House of Representatives.
