                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Dr. Louis William "Bob" Conradt, Sr., will be in

 1-2     Austin on May 22, 1997, to attend the commencement ceremony of his

 1-3     granddaughter, Tracy Cathleen Morgan, and the members of this

 1-4     chamber are pleased to welcome him to the Capitol City; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, A native Texan, Dr. Conradt was born in Mills County

 1-6     on March 9, 1921, and has resided in Terrell since 1947; his

 1-7     distinguished 26-year career as a general practitioner came to a

 1-8     close in 1973 when he accepted a position as vice president and

 1-9     medical director of Blue Cross-Blue Shield; and

1-10           WHEREAS, Dr. Conradt graduated from John Tarleton College in

1-11     Stephenville in 1940 and earned his medical degree from the

1-12     University of Texas Southwestern Medical School four years later;

1-13     while pursuing the latter degree, he also served his country as a

1-14     member of the U.S. Army during World War II, completing his

1-15     military service at El Paso's Fort Bliss in 1947; and

1-16           WHEREAS, This commendable man is a longtime member of the

1-17     Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and has served on the vestry

1-18     of that institution many times; from 1963 to 1970, he served the

1-19     citizens of Terrell as president of the Terrell Independent School

1-20     District, during which time he oversaw the desegregation of the

1-21     district's schools and directed the construction of several new

1-22     school facilities; and

1-23           WHEREAS, The union of Dr. Conradt and his wife, the late

1-24     Montie Estelle King, was blessed with two children, Louis William

 2-1     "Bill" Conradt, Jr., and Patricia Ann "Trish" Conradt, and as the

 2-2     family's legacy of excellence continues with the graduation of his

 2-3     granddaughter, Dr.  Conradt certainly has reason to be proud; now,

 2-4     therefore, be it

 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-6     Legislature hereby honor Dr. Louis William "Bob" Conradt, Sr., for

 2-7     his longtime service to the citizens of Terrell and offer him

 2-8     congratulations on the occasion of his granddaughter's graduation

 2-9     from Anderson High School; and, be it further

2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-11     prepared for Dr. Conradt as an expression of high regard by the

2-12     Texas House of Representatives.
