R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Jack Wimberly Minor on 1-2 November 11, 1996, at the age of 38, brought a great loss to the 1-3 family and many friends of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mr. Minor was 1-5 born on April 22, 1958, and spent his formative years in Houston; 1-6 he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State 1-7 University in Huntsville before moving to the Capitol City; and 1-8 WHEREAS, An accomplished photographer, Mr. Minor worked for 1-9 the Texas House of Representatives in that capacity for 15 years, 1-10 photographing legislators on the House floor over the course of 27 1-11 regular and special legislative sessions; during that time he 1-12 collected thousands of images in and around the State Capitol, and 1-13 each Fourth of July he could be found capturing the magnificence of 1-14 this historic building as fireworks filled the night sky; and 1-15 WHEREAS, This commendable individual's contributions to the 1-16 House photography department helped to raise it to a higher level, 1-17 and as House photography manager, he set a standard of excellence 1-18 that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Music also played an important role in defining 1-20 Mr. Minor's life, and his love for collecting and sharing 1-21 recordings was an integral part of his being; his impressive body 1-22 of work stands as a reminder of his creativity and talent, and this 1-23 collection has surely proved a comfort to his loved ones in this 1-24 sad time and will no doubt provide his children with a cherished 2-1 heirloom; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Jack Minor was a man of great compassion and 2-3 devotion who loved his wife and children without limit, and 2-4 although his time with us was far too brief, his many contributions 2-5 to his family, friends, and indeed the citizens of Texas have truly 2-6 made this state a better place; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jack Wimberly Minor 2-9 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-10 wife, Monica Minor; to his sons, Jack Edward Minor and Garrett 2-11 Stephen Minor; to his daughter, Maria Dolores Minor; to his 2-12 parents, Jack and Dolores Minor; to his brother, Paul Minor; to his 2-13 grandmother, Martha Wimberly; and to the many other relatives and 2-14 friends of this fine man; and, be it further 2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-16 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-17 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-18 Jack Wimberly Minor.
