No. 1049 75R15057 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of John Earl "Jack" Fulbright on April 1-2 26, 1997, at the age of 88, has brought a great loss to the family 1-3 and many friends of this esteemed Hebbronville resident; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, he began his teaching career as a 1-5 coach and teacher in Mirando City before he was named principal and 1-6 coach in Hebbronville, where he inspired the school's first 1-7 championship team to victory in 1934 and changed the school's 1-8 mascot from bulldog to longhorn; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In addition to his fine work as an educator, 1-10 Mr. Fulbright was highly regarded as a rancher who raised purebred 1-11 Santa Gertrudis cattle for 60 years; his outstanding management 1-12 practices brought him well-deserved acclaim, for he was named 1-13 Rancher of the Year for Jim Hogg County in 1996; and 1-14 WHEREAS, He drew on his vast experience to positively affect 1-15 the community as the founder of both the Monte Mucho Soil 1-16 Conservation District and the Jim Hogg County Water Control and 1-17 Improvement District No. 2, and he shared his enthusiasm for 1-18 ranching with many young Texans as an ardent supporter of local 1-19 agriculture programs and 4-H events; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Mr. Fulbright further contributed to his community 1-21 through his involvement with the Hebbronville Chamber of Commerce, 1-22 the Methodist Church, and the board of the First National Bank of 1-23 Hebbronville; this devoted gentleman never missed a single 1-24 director's meeting during his distinguished tenure with the bank 2-1 that spanned nearly four decades; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Jack Fulbright left an indelible mark on the 2-3 Hebbronville community during his lifetime, and though his special 2-4 presence will be deeply missed, his memory will long endure in the 2-5 hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be 2-6 it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Earl "Jack" 2-9 Fulbright and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: 2-10 to his beloved wife of 61 years, Armour Lee Fulbright; to his son, 2-11 Robert Earl Fulbright; to his brothers, Carl Fulbright and James 2-12 Lee Fulbright; to his sister, Vivian Brown; to his granddaughters, 2-13 Leslee Fulbright Brandt and Vicki Marie Fulbright; to his 2-14 great-grandchildren, Robert Stevenson Brandt and Katherine 2-15 Fulbright Brandt; and to his many other friends and relatives; and, 2-16 be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-19 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-20 John Earl "Jack" Fulbright.
