By Pitts H.R. No. 1055 75R15377 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of the Reverend Robert W. Richmond on 1-2 May 5, 1997, at the age of 73, has brought a great loss to the 1-3 family and many friends of this esteemed Arlington resident; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Reverend Richmond was born to Wilbert and Mary 1-5 Richmond in Steubenville, Ohio, on January 12, 1924; like many of 1-6 his generation, he proudly served his country in World War II as a 1-7 member of the 99th Infantry Division in the European Theatre of 1-8 Operation, and he was awarded numerous medals for his brave and 1-9 meritorious conduct, including the Combat Infantry Badge and the 1-10 Bronze Star; and 1-11 WHEREAS, He was graduated from North Texas State University 1-12 and Ashbury Theological Seminary; while in seminary, he met and 1-13 married the lovely Eunice Taylor, and the couple nurtured a deeply 1-14 fulfilling union that was blessed with three children; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Reverend Richmond was retired from the active 1-16 ministry, having served for 36 years in the United Methodist 1-17 Church's Central Texas Conference; he offered comfort and religious 1-18 guidance to the members of the First United Methodist Church of 1-19 Waxahachie from 1972 to 1980, and he also ministered to 1-20 congregations in Graham, Fort Worth, Gatesville, and Brownwood; 1-21 and 1-22 WHEREAS, Reverend Richmond was a man of great devotion who 1-23 touched the lives of many people during his years on this earth, 1-24 and though his special presence will be deeply missed, his memory 2-1 will long endure in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved 2-2 him; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Reverend Robert 2-5 W. Richmond and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his 2-6 family: to his wife, Eunice Richmond; to his son, Perry; to his 2-7 daughters, Debra and Vicki; to his sister, Ruth Bowen; to his 2-8 brother, Donald Richmond; to his six grandchildren; and to the many 2-9 other friends and relatives of this distinguished gentleman; and, 2-10 be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-13 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-14 the Reverend Robert W. Richmond.
