R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, May 23, 1997, marks the graduation of Crystal Renee 1-2 Elkins from Central Christian Academy in Houston, and this 1-3 auspicious occasion is indeed worthy of special praise and 1-4 recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, During her time at Central Christian Academy, 1-6 Ms. Elkins has distinguished herself as both an outstanding student 1-7 and an enthusiastic participant in extracurricular programs, and 1-8 her teachers, coaches, and fellow students have all benefited from 1-9 her keen intelligence and vivacious spirit; and 1-10 WHEREAS, A gifted scholar, Ms. Elkins has been an honor roll 1-11 student for four years, and this achievement is aptly reflected in 1-12 her 3.87 grade point average and her selection as the salutatorian 1-13 of her graduating class; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Ms. Elkins has also given freely of her time and 1-15 energy to participate in a number of school activities, and in 1-16 addition to her contributions to the volleyball, basketball, and 1-17 softball teams, she has been active as a cheerleader and has lent 1-18 her talents to the school's drama productions; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Ms. Elkins has 1-20 enjoyed the steadfast support of her close-knit family, including 1-21 her parents, the Honorable Gary Elkins and Julie Elkins, and her 1-22 grandparents, Lee Roy Elkins, Shirley Elkins, L. V. Brown, and 1-23 Nancy Hamil, and they take great pride in her many remarkable 1-24 accomplishments; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Even as Crystal Elkins may reflect back on her 2-2 contributions to Central Christian Academy with great satisfaction, 2-3 she now looks forward to embracing new challenges and opportunities 2-4 as a student at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, and it 2-5 is truly a privilege to recognize this notable young Texan at this 2-6 time; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby congratulate Crystal Renee Elkins on her 2-9 graduation from Central Christian Academy and extend to her sincere 2-10 best wishes for continued success and happiness in the years to 2-11 come; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for Ms. Elkins as an expression of high regard by the 2-14 Texas House of Representatives.
