No. 1071 75R16029 JTR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On May 23, 1997, Ashley Eastham Pitts will graduate 1-2 from Waxahachie High School; and 1-3 WHEREAS, A vital and valued member of the student body at 1-4 Waxahachie High, Ms. Pitts is well known for both her exemplary 1-5 scholarship and her enthusiastic participation in the school's 1-6 extracurricular programs; and 1-7 WHEREAS, She has been listed in Who's Who Among High School 1-8 Students, and her academic endeavors include her noteworthy 1-9 performance in a number of honors classes, including English, 1-10 government, and economics courses, as well as being named the 1-11 school's outstanding accounting student; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Her scholastic success is aptly mirrored by her 1-13 active involvement in the life of her school, and she has lent her 1-14 time and talent to a number of worthwhile endeavors; a cheerleading 1-15 manager and member of the Spanish Club, she was also chosen as the 1-16 outstanding senior by Waxahachie's Shakespeare Club; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The high esteem in which Ms. Pitts is held by her 1-18 peers is evident from the many honors she has been accorded, and in 1-19 addition to being nominated as Prom Queen, she has been a Symphony 1-20 Belle and was named to the Senior Coronation Court; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to improving the world around her, 1-22 Ms. Pitts has also given freely of herself to such civic-spirited 1-23 initiatives as the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference, the 1-24 National Youth Leadership Conference, and the Texas War on Drugs; 2-1 and 2-2 WHEREAS, Throughout her life, she has drawn strength and 2-3 sustenance from her faith, and she has put her beliefs into 2-4 practice as an active member of Young Life and the Fellowship of 2-5 Christian Athletes; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Ashley Pitts has distinguished herself as a young 2-7 woman of great poise and ability, and her accomplishments thus far 2-8 are strong indicators of an equally bright future; as she prepares 2-9 to open a new chapter in her life at Southern Methodist University, 2-10 it is indeed fitting to recognize her high school achievements; 2-11 now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-13 Legislature hereby congratulate Ashley Eastham Pitts on her 2-14 graduation from Waxahachie High School and extend to her sincere 2-15 best wishes for continued success and happiness in the years to 2-16 come; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for Ms. Pitts as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-19 House of Representatives.
