R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Pauline Horowitz Weisfeld on May 4,

 1-2     1996, at the age of 86, brought a great loss to her family and many

 1-3     friends; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, As a teenager, she escaped with her family from the

 1-5     pogroms of Russia to Chicago, where she met and married Morris

 1-6     Weisfeld, and the couple nurtured a deeply fulfilling union that

 1-7     spanned 42 years until his passing; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, During the Great Depression, the Weisfelds moved to

 1-9     Pharr, where they became pioneers in the citrus industry,

1-10     establishing M. W. Fruit Company; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Mrs. Weisfeld maintained an abiding commitment to

1-12     her community through her involvement in Seven Acres and the Temple

1-13     Sisterhood, and she was well known for her magnificent handwork and

1-14     her delicious challah; and

1-15           WHEREAS, She was an active life member of Hadassah, a

1-16     founding member of Temple Emanuel in McAllen, and a longtime member

1-17     of Congregation Beth Yeshurun in Houston; and

1-18           WHEREAS, Pauline Weisfeld touched the lives of many people

1-19     during her years on this earth, and though she is gone from us now,

1-20     her memory will long endure in the hearts and minds of all who knew

1-21     and loved her; now, therefore, be it

1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-23     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Pauline Horowitz

1-24     Weisfeld and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family:

 2-1     to her sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Carolyn Weisfeld, and

 2-2     Sheldon and Eve Weisfeld; to Al Gerrick; to her grandchildren,

 2-3     Rosalie Weisfeld, David Weisfeld, Herschel Weisfeld, Sheldon and

 2-4     Debra Weisfeld, Ronnie and Michelle Weisfeld, Jeffrey and Nadine

 2-5     Weisfeld, Stuart and Mitzi Weisfeld, Lynde Weisfeld, Myra and

 2-6     Robert Jacobson, Deborah Baugher, Laura and John Eason, and David

 2-7     Nieto; to her great-grandchildren, Shanna, Samuel, Johnathan,

 2-8     Joshua, Sarah, Daniel, Natalie, Jacob, Isaac, Maya, and Sara Ellen;

 2-9     and to her many other friends and relatives; and, be it further

2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-11     prepared for the members of her family  and that when the Texas

2-12     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-13     Pauline Horowitz Weisfeld.
