                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Few teams or individuals realize the dream of

 1-2     winning a state championship, and fewer still are able to duplicate

 1-3     such a phenomenal task; the Rule High School academic team recently

 1-4     attained that elite status by earning its second consecutive

 1-5     University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 1A state title; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Competing at the highest level in academic

 1-7     competition requires not only talented students, but also countless

 1-8     hours of study and preparation in multiple disciplines; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Earning first place for Rule High School in

1-10     mathematics was the team of Sammy Bagot, Justin Custer, and Eric

1-11     Robinson, and that group also took second in calculator

1-12     applications; in addition, Mr. Custer placed second in both

1-13     individual mathematics competition and number sense, and

1-14     Mr. Robinson earned runner-up status in the individual calculator

1-15     applications competition; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Megan Jones and Kalith Trussell admirably

1-17     represented Rule High School in the area of computer science,

1-18     claiming second and third places, respectively, and the school's

1-19     one-act play Little Women was alternate to state; and

1-20           WHEREAS, Coaches Bobby Robinson, Jerry Cannon, and Alice

1-21     Jones  provided outstanding leadership and encouragement to their

1-22     young charges, enabling team members to perform to the best of

1-23     their ability; and

1-24           WHEREAS, This dedicated group of young scholars are a source

 2-1     of tremendous pride to the students and faculty of Rule High School

 2-2     and their many supporters in the community and their achievements

 2-3     are indeed worthy of special legislative recognition at this time;

 2-4     now, therefore, be it

 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-6     Legislature hereby congratulate the Rule High School academic team

 2-7     on winning its second consecutive UIL Class 1A state championship

 2-8     and extend to the team best wishes for continued success in the

 2-9     future; and, be it further

2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-11     prepared for the team members and coaching staff as an expression

2-12     of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
