                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State

 1-2     of Texas, That House Rule 13, Section 9(a), is suspended, as

 1-3     provided by House Rule 13, Section 9(f), to enable the house to the

 1-4     extent described in this resolution to permit the conference

 1-5     committee appointed to adjust the differences between the house and

 1-6     senate versions of H.B. No. 2542, relating to the regulation of

 1-7     parks and wildlife and providing penalties, to successfully

 1-8     conclude the committee's deliberations, by authorizing the

 1-9     conferees to consider and take action as follows:

1-10           House Rule 13, Section 9(a)(4) is suspended to permit the

1-11     committee to add SECTION 127 to the bill to read as follows:

1-12           SECTION 127.  (a)  Not later than October 1, 1997, the Parks

1-13     and Wildlife Department shall submit to the legislature a report

1-14     describing the actions the department has taken, and the actions

1-15     the department plans to take during the 1998-1999 biennium, to

1-16     address deficiencies in maintenance, operational support, and

1-17     promotion of historic structures, sites, and parks under the

1-18     department's jurisdiction. The report shall respond in detail to

1-19     the findings and recommendations included in the study of state

1-20     historic sites conducted for the department and the Texas

1-21     Historical Commission by KPMG Peat Marwick, L.L.P., and submitted

1-22     to those agencies in January 1997.

1-23           (b)  Copies of the department's report shall be delivered to

1-24     the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of

 2-1     representatives, and the presiding officers of the senate and house

 2-2     standing committees having jurisdiction over matters relating to

 2-3     preservation of state historic structures, sites, and parks.

 2-4           This change is necessary to require the Parks and Wildlife

 2-5     Department to respond to a report regarding the administration of

 2-6     historic sites.
