R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The recent passing of Alvin A. "Bud" Owen on May 16,
1-2 1997, at the age of 86, has brought a great loss to the many
1-3 friends and relatives of this esteemed gentleman; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Born September 24, 1910, in Emhouse, Texas, to G. G.
1-5 and Angie Owen, he was a valued employee of the Agricultural
1-6 Stabilization and Conservation Service of Ellis County for many
1-7 years until his retirement in 1969; and
1-8 WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the city of Italy, Mr. Owen
1-9 worked to better his community through his participation in Italy
1-10 Masonic Lodge No. 645 and the Dallas Valley of the Scottish Rite;
1-11 this fine Texan was also an active member of the Park Presbyterian
1-12 Church of Italy, which he served as an elder; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Mr. Owen was a vital and valued member of the
1-14 community who was respected by all who knew him; although his
1-15 warmth and wisdom are gone from us now, his remarkable spirit will
1-16 surely live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he
1-17 touched during his time on this earth; now, therefore, be it
1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
1-19 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alvin A. "Bud" Owen
1-20 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
1-21 beloved wife of 56 years, Evie Nell Ward Owen; to his daughter and
1-22 son-in-law, Karen and Nelson German; to his son and
1-23 daughter-in-law, Robert and Cheryl Owen; to his sister, Nancy
1-24 Johnson; to his grandchildren, Dan German, Tricia German, Cortney
2-1 Owen, Christie Owen, and Sam Owen; to his great-grandson, Garrett
2-2 German; and to his many other friends and relatives; and, be it
2-3 further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-6 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-7 Alvin A. "Bud" Owen.
