No. 1103 75R16519 JTR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, One of the Lone Star State's most valuable assets is 1-2 its dynamic Mexican-American population, and since 1948, the 1-3 American GI Forum has been an invaluable resource and steadfast 1-4 advocate for these proud Texans; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Unique among veterans' groups, the American GI Forum 1-6 has from its inception sought the active participation of women in 1-7 the organization, and through the years their contributions have 1-8 strengthened and sharpened the forum's efforts; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The Port Ayers Women Chapter of the American GI 1-10 Forum was first formed in Corpus Christi in 1965, and since that 1-11 time it has distinguished itself as a powerful presence in the 1-12 community; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Deeply involved in issues of concern to women, the 1-14 group's members also champion the value of education, and this 1-15 priority is aptly reflected in their motto, "Education is our 1-16 freedom, and freedom should be everybody's business"; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The Port Ayers Women Chapter is an integral element 1-18 of the American GI Forum, and their many remarkable accomplishments 1-19 are indeed worthy of special praise and recognition at this time; 1-20 now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby honor the Port Ayers Women Chapter of the 1-23 American GI Forum and extend to its members sincere best wishes for 1-24 continued success in the years to come.
