R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Meghan Christine Manning on May 6, 1-2 1997, at the age of 17, has brought a great loss to the family and 1-3 many friends of this fine young Texan; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The daughter of Patrick and Linda Manning, she was 1-5 born in Southfield, Michigan, but happily became a naturalized 1-6 Texan after moving with her family to The Woodlands; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Ms. Manning was a junior at The Woodlands High 1-8 School, where she had earned induction into the National Honor 1-9 Society and successfully balanced the demands of her course work 1-10 with a variety of school and community-based activities; in 1-11 addition to being a varsity cheerleader, she was active in Young 1-12 Life, the Good Sportsmanship League, and the Math Honor Society; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, She demonstrated her leadership abilities through 1-15 her involvement with the school's student council and Interact, a 1-16 high school Rotary Club affiliate, and she also made time in her 1-17 busy schedule to serve with Mu Alpha Theta; and 1-18 WHEREAS, All who knew and loved Meghan Manning will long miss 1-19 her presence; though her life has been cut tragically short, her 1-20 unique spirit will surely endure in the hearts of those whose lives 1-21 she touched for many years to come; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-2 hereby pay tribute to the life of Meghan Christine Manning and 2-3 extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: to her 2-4 parents, Patrick and Linda Manning; to her sister, Amy Manning; to 2-5 her grandfather, Bruce Allen; and to the many other friends and 2-6 relatives of this beloved young woman; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-9 House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in 2-10 memory of Meghan Christine Manning.
