                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of James Harold "Hal" Scott on

 1-2     May 10, 1997, at the age of 42, has deeply saddened all who knew

 1-3     and admired this kind gentleman; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Corsicana, he was born

 1-5     November 3, 1954, to George and Jimmie Scott and was graduated from

 1-6     Texas A&M University; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, Mr. Scott was a former employee of Collin Street

 1-8     Bakery and was traffic manager for Guardian Industries; he will be

 1-9     well remembered for his service to his fellow citizens as past

1-10     president of the Navarro County Peace Officers Association, a

1-11     member of the Corsicana Emergency Corps, and captain of the Navarro

1-12     County Sheriff's Reserves, and his caring nature earned him the

1-13     admiration of all his colleagues; and

1-14           WHEREAS, He further contributed to the community through his

1-15     involvement in several service organizations, and he treasured the

1-16     time he spent as a mentor to children in need; he also made time in

1-17     his busy schedule to enjoy golf, developing many close friendships

1-18     on the links as well; and

1-19           WHEREAS, His commitment to his career and community was

1-20     surpassed only by his love of family; Mr. Scott was a devoted

1-21     husband, father, and grandfather, who provided his loved ones with

1-22     a steady supply of humor and affection throughout the years; and

1-23           WHEREAS, In all aspects of his life, Hal Scott set high

1-24     standards to which others can aspire, and though his special

 2-1     presence will be deeply missed, his memory will long endure in the

 2-2     hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now,

 2-3     therefore, be it

 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-5     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James Harold "Hal"

 2-6     Scott and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to

 2-7     his wife, Cecil Ann Scott; to his son and daughter-in-law, Brad and

 2-8     Shae Gannon; to his grandchildren, Jordan Farmer and Cheyenne

 2-9     Gannon; to his brothers, Wayne Scott and Gary Scott; to his sister,

2-10     Kathy Leonard; and to the many other friends and relatives of this

2-11     fine Texan; and, be it further

2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-13     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas

2-14     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-15     James Harold "Hal" Scott.
