R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Since 1994, the United Court of Austin, Inc., a

 1-2     501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has worked to support HIV/AIDS

 1-3     and breast cancer research, education, and care by hosting numerous

 1-4     fund-raising events and pageants; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Through these events, the United Court of Austin has

 1-6     raised more than $100,000, which has been distributed to local

 1-7     organizations that rely on donations to support their operation;

 1-8     the essential services provided by these groups have benefited

 1-9     countless individuals and are indispensable to many Austinites; and

1-10           WHEREAS, On August 7-10, 1997, the United Court of Austin,

1-11     Inc., will host Coronation, its largest annual fund-raising event

1-12     of the year and the start of the next year's fund-raising efforts;

1-13     this three-day affair salutes the hard work and dedication of the

1-14     previous year's king and queen and celebrates the crowning of the

1-15     newly elected monarchs; and

1-16           WHEREAS, In commemoration of this festive occasion, the

1-17     United Court of Austin, Inc., expects the attendance and

1-18     participation of some 500 dignitaries and visitors from sister

1-19     organizations throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico;

1-20     this network of support is necessary to the success of

1-21     organizations such as the United Court and is a vital component in

1-22     the fight to find a cure for HIV/AIDS and breast cancer; now,

1-23     therefore, be it

1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-1     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the work of the United Court of

 2-2     Austin, Inc., and commend the past and present kings and queens of

 2-3     the court for their tireless efforts to raise funds in behalf of

 2-4     the outstanding organizations that conduct HIV/AIDS and breast

 2-5     cancer research and provide education and care for afflicted

 2-6     individuals.
