R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Brenda Lee Huerta has opened up new avenues of 1-2 communication in South Texas, and her efforts to bridge that 1-3 region's cultures and promote understanding among its residents are 1-4 indeed worthy of great praise and recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, In her role as news director at radio station KIWW 1-6 in McAllen, Ms. Huerta has introduced bilingual newscasts that 1-7 bring critical news and information to the area's many 1-8 Mexican-American residents; because her listeners have varying 1-9 levels of proficiency in the English language, Ms. Huerta uses a 1-10 combination of English and Spanish to reach the largest possible 1-11 audience; and 1-12 WHEREAS, A native of Lubbock, Ms. Huerta earned both an 1-13 undergraduate degree in communications and a master's degree in 1-14 business administration from Southwest Texas State University 1-15 before launching her broadcasting career; since then, she has 1-16 become a trusted source of news and information to countless 1-17 residents of the Rio Grande Valley; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Both as a broadcaster and as a community leader, 1-19 Brenda Lee Huerta has worked tirelessly for the benefit of the 1-20 McAllen community, and her efforts will undoubtedly have a positive 1-21 impact on the future of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby honor Brenda Lee Huerta for her outstanding 1-24 contributions to the people of the Rio Grande Valley and extend to 2-1 her warmest best wishes for many more years of continued success 2-2 and happiness; and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for Ms. Huerta as an expression of high regard by the 2-5 Texas House of Representatives.
