                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The public television documentary series "Vote for

 1-2     Me: Politics in America" has been awarded the George Foster Peabody

 1-3     Award for excellence in broadcast and cable, the highest award in

 1-4     television broadcasting; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, This production about the culture of electoral

 1-6     politics on the national, state, and local levels received critical

 1-7     acclaim when it was nationally broadcast on public television,

 1-8     being described as "a celebration of American politics," "the best

 1-9     four credit course on real politics you could ever take," and "a

1-10     masterpiece, which makes you laugh, makes you enraged, and, most

1-11     remarkable of all, makes you care about politics"; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Filmed in 30 states, "Vote for Me: Politics in

1-13     America" features lengthy and informative sequences about politics

1-14     at the Texas legislature; and

1-15           WHEREAS, The series was coproduced by Paul Stekler, the new

1-16     head of the nationally recognized film program at the

1-17     Radio-Television-Film Department of The University of Texas at

1-18     Austin, and his efforts, along with all those individuals involved

1-19     in this enlightening series, are indeed worthy of special

1-20     legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it

1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-22     Legislature hereby congratulate Paul Stekler on his receipt of the

1-23     George Foster Peabody Award and recognize "Vote for Me: Politics in

1-24     America" for its portrayal of the serious business of politics and

 2-1     governance in Texas and across the nation; and, be it further

 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-3     prepared for Mr. Stekler as an expression of high regard by the

 2-4     Texas House of Representatives.
