No. 1152 75R16239 JHS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, For more than 100 years, the San Antonio Fire 1-2 Department (SAFD) has served the citizens of the Alamo City, 1-3 protecting their lives, homes, and property; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The department was established in 1891 and 1-5 originally consisted of 175 active volunteer members; as the city 1-6 grew, so did the need for a larger and better equipped force, and 1-7 today, the SAFD employs more than 900 firefighters and features 1-8 state-of-the-art equipment at its 44 fire stations; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The members of this vital organization have risked 1-10 their lives countless times in their efforts to safeguard San 1-11 Antonio's residents, and it is an unfortunate circumstance of this 1-12 heroic profession that we from time to time lose one of these 1-13 valiant men; now, therefore, be it 1-14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-15 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the lives of the brave 1-16 firefighters who have died in the line of duty while serving the 1-17 citizens of San Antonio, including Will P. Bishop, H. J. Kneupper, 1-18 August W. Wagner, Jr., Henry E. Martinez, A. S. Gasfman, W. A. 1-19 Kalisky, Romero Rivera, Joe G. Ramirez, Charles Erlich, Willie 1-20 Ojeda, Charles Edwards, Ernest Flores, James Boullosa, John Forres, 1-21 and Jesse Bricker, and recognize their valor and their dedication 1-22 to this essential profession; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That when the Texas House of Representatives 1-24 adjourns this day, it do so in memory of these courageous men.
