                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Pamela Boson Erwin has distinguished herself as a

 1-2     gifted performer, a talented teacher, and a valued citizen of

 1-3     Tyler, and her many accomplishments are truly worthy of special

 1-4     praise and recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Raised in Dallas, Ms. Erwin was introduced to the

 1-6     joys of dance as a young girl, and she began her formal dance

 1-7     training at the age of five; an outstanding actress as well, she

 1-8     went on to earn bachelor's and master's degrees in speech, drama,

 1-9     and theater from Texas Woman's University; and

1-10           WHEREAS, Since that time, Ms. Erwin's depth and range of

1-11     experience as an actress, choreographer, and director have shaped

1-12     and sharpened her skills as a master teacher, and in 1977 she and

1-13     ballet instructor Thereza DeFelice Bryce-Coates pooled their

1-14     talents to create the Dance Factory in Tyler; and

1-15           WHEREAS, For 20 years, the Dance Factory has introduced

1-16     countless young people to the vitality and beauty of this demanding

1-17     discipline, and in passing on her wealth of knowledge to her

1-18     students, Ms. Erwin has opened to them the same rich and rewarding

1-19     possibilities she herself found in dance as a youngster; and

1-20           WHEREAS, Ms. Erwin's many contributions to the community

1-21     extend far beyond the dance studio, and she is also a valued

1-22     employee of the Tyler Independent School District; named the 1991

1-23     Teacher of the Year at Dogan Middle School, she has also been

1-24     accorded a number of other honors, including appreciation awards

 2-1     from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional

 2-2     Women's Club, the Arts and Letters program of Delta Sigma Theta

 2-3     sorority, and the Sigma Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi

 2-4     fraternity; and

 2-5           WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Ms. Erwin has drawn strength

 2-6     and support from her close-knit family, and she and her husband,

 2-7     Larry James Erwin, take great pride in their children Stephanie and

 2-8     Larry; and

 2-9           WHEREAS, Through her dedicated efforts as a teacher, artist,

2-10     wife, and mother, Pamela Boson Erwin has indeed made the world a

2-11     better place, and it is fitting at this time to recognize her for

2-12     her many achievements; now, therefore, be it

2-13           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-14     Legislature hereby honor Pamela Boson Erwin for her service to the

2-15     residents of Tyler and the Lone Star State and extend to her

2-16     sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in the

2-17     years to come; and, be it further

2-18           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-19     prepared for Ms. Erwin as an expression of high regard by the Texas

2-20     House of Representatives.
