                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Smith Elementary School in Del Valle has been named

 1-2     a Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education,

 1-3     and this distinction is truly deserving of special praise and

 1-4     recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, The Blue Ribbon designation is awarded to those

 1-6     schools that have achieved remarkable results in fostering academic

 1-7     excellence, and Smith Elementary's noteworthy record in this regard

 1-8     has now garnered the school national attention; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Smith Elementary's exemplary accomplishment is the

1-10     result of the concerted effort of faculty, staff, and parents to

1-11     create a positive and supportive learning environment, and in doing

1-12     so they have allowed the school's students to explore their full

1-13     potential as budding scholars; and

1-14           WHEREAS, The Lone Star State's most precious natural resource

1-15     is its children, and ensuring that they receive a top-flight

1-16     education is the shared responsibility of every Texan; and

1-17           WHEREAS, The faculty and staff of Smith Elementary have

1-18     distinguished themselves as outstanding educators, and it is indeed

1-19     fitting at this time to honor them for their great contributions to

1-20     the community; now, therefore, be it

1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-22     Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with Smith

1-23     Elementary School for being named a Blue Ribbon School and extend

1-24     to them sincere best wishes for continued success in the years to

 2-1     come; and, be it further

 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-3     prepared for display at Smith Elementary School as an expression of

 2-4     high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
