R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a 1-3 memorable occasion worthy of special praise and recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Thomas and Aurelya Reid had the privilege of 1-5 commemorating such a momentous event in their lives when they 1-6 celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on October 26, 1996, 1-7 with a mass at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and a festive 1-8 dinner and reception hosted by the couple's children; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Since exchanging their wedding vows in Fort Worth, 1-10 the Reids have nurtured an enduring relationship that has grown in 1-11 love and understanding with each passing year and that has been 1-12 blessed with four children, Barbara Reid, Camilla Reid, Thomas 1-13 Reid, Jr., and Shirley Hall; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The Reids have resided in Fort Worth their entire 1-15 married life and are both retired from their careers; Mr. Reid 1-16 enjoyed a successful tenure with General Dynamics, while Mrs. Reid 1-17 was a valued employee of Daughty Brothers; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Now deservedly enjoying the many benefits of a full 1-19 life together, the couple find they have more time to pursue their 1-20 favorite leisure activities, and they treasure the time they spend 1-21 with their family, which has grown to include six grandchildren; 1-22 and 1-23 WHEREAS, For half a century, Thomas and Aurelya Reid have 1-24 shared a warm and affectionate union filled with many happy times 2-1 and cherished family memories; built on a solid foundation of 2-2 mutual love, trust, and support, their marriage is a source of joy 2-3 and inspiration to the family and many friends of this fortunate 2-4 pair; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby congratulate Thomas and Aurelya Reid on their 2-7 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest best wishes for 2-8 continued happiness; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Reid as an expression of high regard by 2-11 the Texas House of Representatives.
