                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Brooke Holloway is completing her tenure as a

 1-2     special assistant to Representative Glen Maxey; and

 1-3           WHEREAS, Ms. Holloway, a graduate of the Harvard of Brazos

 1-4     County, has been a veritable Rock of Gibraltar for the staff of

 1-5     Representative Maxey's office through her gracious demeanor,

 1-6     willing cheerfulness, and devotion to duty that is beyond the norm;

 1-7     and

 1-8           WHEREAS, She brings to the Texas Legislature a unique

 1-9     understanding of the problems of the human condition, which she

1-10     gained from her travels around the world, ranging from Granbury,

1-11     Texas, to the African country of Libya; and

1-12           WHEREAS, With grace and dignity, Ms. Holloway has withstood

1-13     the daily trials and tribulations of working for her immediate

1-14     supervisor throughout the legislative session, emerging only

1-15     slightly scarred and unnerved by the experience; and

1-16           WHEREAS, In addition to her political service to the people

1-17     of the State of Texas, Brooke Holloway has demonstrated great

1-18     acumen in the domestic art of cooking, and she regularly made

1-19     delicious desserts and other baked goods for her colleagues; and

1-20           WHEREAS, A notorious Anglophile who actually lived in the

1-21     United Kingdom for several years, she has been able to indulge her

1-22     passion for the color purple, a color traditionally associated with

1-23     monarchs; and

1-24           WHEREAS, The color purple is also a trademark recognition of

 2-1     her zest for life and her embrace of all things vibrant and

 2-2     beautiful, extending even to her automobile, which is believed to

 2-3     be the only purple Ford Mustang in the Western Hemisphere; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, It is customary and proper to reward those servants

 2-5     of the people with appropriate recognition, and had Brooke Holloway

 2-6     been born a subject of Queen Elizabeth II, she would undoubtedly be

 2-7     entitled to receive numerous honors and awards in honor of her

 2-8     service, possibly even including membership in one of the Orders of

 2-9     Chivalry;  now, therefore, be it

2-10           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-11     Legislature hereby commend Brooke Holloway for her service to Texas

2-12     and her people and extend to her sincere thanks for that service

2-13     and dedication; and, be it further

2-14           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives do hereby name

2-15     Brooke Holloway a Dame of the House and that she be entitled to

2-16     this honor and designation throughout her life; and, be it further

2-17           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-18     prepared for Dame Brooke Holloway as an expression of high regard

2-19     by the Texas House of Representatives.
