By Hartnett H.R. No. 1178 75R16849 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Donald R. McCarrell on February 15, 1-2 1997, at the age of 59, has brought a great loss to the family and 1-3 many friends of this esteemed Dallas resident; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Abilene, he was graduated from Eunice 1-5 High School in New Mexico, and he proudly served his country as a 1-6 member of the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1962; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Mr. McCarrell wed Delores Faye Boaz on July 11, 1-8 1959, and the couple nurtured a deeply fulfilling union that 1-9 spanned 37 years; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mr. McCarrell was well known for his career in law 1-11 enforcement; a member of the Dallas Police Department for 20 years, 1-12 he earned numerous commendations and certificates of merit during 1-13 his 10 years as a patrol officer, and he later was an investigative 1-14 officer before completing his tenure with the department in 1987; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, In the following year, he joined the Dallas County 1-17 Sheriff's Department as bailiff for the Dallas County Auxiliary 1-18 Drug Court No. 6, in which capacity he effectively handled a host 1-19 of responsibilities until his passing; and 1-20 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he was sustained by the love 1-21 and support of his family, and his devotion to his wife, son, and 1-22 extended family was a source of inspiration to many people; and 1-23 WHEREAS, During his lifetime, Donald McCarrell left an 1-24 indelible mark on the Dallas community, and though his special 2-1 presence will be deeply missed, his memory will long endure in the 2-2 hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be 2-3 it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Donald R. McCarrell 2-6 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-7 wife, Delores Faye Boaz McCarrell; to his son, Darrell Ray 2-8 McCarrell; and to the many other friends and relatives of this 2-9 distinguished Texan; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-12 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-13 Donald R. McCarrell.
