R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor

 1-2     Lacy Turner of Eastland, Texas, whose recent heroic actions helped

 1-3     save the life of Caleb Panzera; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, On May 11, 1997, Ms. Turner, a senior at Eastland

 1-5     High School who plans to enter the nursing field, was driving home

 1-6     when she saw a young boy being attacked by a dog; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, She immediately stopped her vehicle and ran to the

 1-8     rescue of 4-1/2 year-old Caleb Panzera; placing herself directly in

 1-9     harm's way, she kicked the dog away from Caleb Panzera, who was

1-10     badly bitten on the back and neck and had suffered a broken arm, to

1-11     keep the child from being further injured; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Ms. Turner's selfless and courageous behavior is a

1-13     source of great pride to her parents, David and Kathi Turner, her

1-14     friends and classmates, and to the entire Eastland community; and

1-15           WHEREAS, The prompt intervention of Lacy Turner saved

1-16     Caleb Panzera from suffering more serious or even life-threatening

1-17     injuries, and her inspirational actions are truly worthy of special

1-18     legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it

1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-20     Legislature hereby commend Lacy Turner on her exceptional actions

1-21     in coming to the aid of Caleb Panzera; and, be it further

 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-2     prepared for Lacy Turner as an expression of high regard by the

 2-3     Texas House of Representatives.
