R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious
1-2 natural resource, and excellence in public education is an endeavor
1-3 in which all Texans have a stake; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Carnahan Elementary School of the Pharr-San
1-5 Juan-Alamo Independent School District has been recognized by Texas
1-6 Monthly magazine as one of the state's most outstanding schools,
1-7 and this remarkable accomplishment is indeed worthy of special
1-8 praise and recognition; and
1-9 WHEREAS, The magazine's rankings were based on the
1-10 performance of students on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills
1-11 (TAAS) test, and designations of from one to four stars were
1-12 assigned to the state's best schools; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Carnahan Elementary School's rating of two stars is
1-14 a fitting tribute to the hard work and dedication of the school's
1-15 students, parents, faculty, and staff, and under the leadership of
1-16 principal Raphaela Romero, this talented team looks forward to
1-17 meeting new challenges and opportunities in the years to come; now,
1-18 therefore, be it
1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
1-20 Legislature hereby commend all those associated with Carnahan
1-21 Elementary School for its designation as one of the state's top
1-22 schools and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
1-23 success and happiness in the future; and, be it further
1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-1 prepared for display at Carnahan Elementary School as an expression
2-2 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
