R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The success of the biennial legislative session
1-2 depends upon a great number of individuals, and the many interns
1-3 who generously volunteer their assistance to the State of Texas are
1-4 indeed deserving of special legislative recognition; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Naomi Mier has made many contributions as a staff
1-6 member in the office of State Representative Norma Chavez; in
1-7 addition to providing valuable research on the issue of at-risk
1-8 youth, her duties have included logging and responding to
1-9 constituent mail, a vital part of the legislative process; and
1-10 WHEREAS, A graduate of El Paso's Eastwood High School, this
1-11 dedicated young woman recently completed her freshman year at The
1-12 University of Texas at Austin where she is majoring in public
1-13 relations; Ms. Mier has been listed three times in the prestigious
1-14 Who's Who Among American High School Students and she plans to
1-15 pursue her interest in politics after graduating; and
1-16 WHEREAS, In addition to her internship, Ms. Mier has worked
1-17 part-time in the Texas Senate as a messenger, and her experiences
1-18 with both houses of the Texas Legislature have been beneficial in
1-19 her development as a political observer; and
1-20 WHEREAS, Naomi Mier's commitment to excellence has earned her
1-21 the respect and admiration of her coworkers and peers, and as the
1-22 75th Regular Session comes to a close, the members of this chamber
1-23 are pleased to recognize her hard work in this challenging and
1-24 educational role; now, therefore, be it
2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
2-2 Legislature hereby commend Naomi Mier for her contributions to the
2-3 accomplishments of the 75th Legislative Session and extend to her
2-4 sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in all her
2-5 future endeavors; and, be it further
2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-7 prepared for Ms. Mier as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-8 House of Representatives.
