R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Beverly Grant Harden is well known for his 1-2 outstanding service to the city of Llano, and his many achievements 1-3 are truly worthy of special recognition at this time; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Harden served in the United 1-5 States Army before settling in Llano and pursuing his career as a 1-6 mechanic, and since then he has distinguished himself as a vital 1-7 and valued member of the community; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Harden has served as chief of Llano's volunteer 1-9 fire department for many years, and his tenure in that post has 1-10 been characterized by his astute leadership and broad practical 1-11 knowledge; and 1-12 WHEREAS, He has also lent his energy and expertise to both 1-13 the Llano Community Center and the Llano Housing Authority as a 1-14 member of those organizations' boards, and his dedicated efforts in 1-15 these areas have greatly benefited his fellow citizens; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Famous for his generosity of spirit, Mr. Harden was 1-17 known to assist travelers with automotive problems and send them on 1-18 their way with no charge, and his open-hearted approach to friends 1-19 and strangers alike has endeared him to his many friends and 1-20 colleagues; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Mr. Harden has drawn strength 1-22 and sustenance from his close-knit family, and he and his wife, the 1-23 former Melba Smith, take great pride in their children, Tim, Patti, 1-24 and Tony, and in their grandson Grant; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Beverly Grant Harden's life and work stand as 2-2 eloquent testimony to his stature in his hometown of Llano, and it 2-3 is indeed fitting to recognize him for his accomplishments; now, 2-4 therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby honor Beverly Grant Harden for his many 2-7 contributions to his fellow residents of the Lone Star State and 2-8 extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it 2-9 further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for Mr. Harden as an expression of high regard by the 2-12 Texas House of Representatives.
