R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Texan actor Daniel Escobar has distinguished himself 1-2 as one of the entertainment industry's brightest young talents, and 1-3 his many accomplishments to date are truly worthy of special 1-4 recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born in Harlingen, Mr. Escobar attended McAllen High 1-6 School, and it was in his drama classes there that his gifts as a 1-7 comedic actor first became apparent; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Committed to a career as a performer, he went on to 1-9 major in theater at Southern Methodist University; blessed with the 1-10 steadfast support of his proud parents, he allayed their concerns 1-11 about his choice of profession by minoring in business; and 1-12 WHEREAS, From 1988 to 1994, Mr. Escobar lived in Washington, 1-13 D.C., supporting himself through work in regional theater, and as 1-14 he worked to establish himself on the stage he continued to 1-15 strengthen and sharpen his abilities as an actor; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Now a resident of Hollywood, Mr. Escobar has come 1-17 into his own as a sought-after presence in television and motion 1-18 pictures, and his credits include the films Thunderheart, Talk 1-19 Radio, and Beautician and the Beast, as well as the television 1-20 shows "Dallas," "Murphy Brown," "Men Behaving Badly," and 1-21 "America's Most Wanted"; a versatile performer, he also pursues 1-22 stage work and has appeared in a number of Shakespearean 1-23 productions, including Much Ado About Nothing and Henry V; and 1-24 WHEREAS, From Harlingen to Hollywood, Daniel Escobar's 2-1 dramatic career has been characterized by his hard work and 2-2 commitment to his craft, and he continues to challenge Hispanic 2-3 stereotypes with the remarkable range and depth of his talent; now, 2-4 therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby honor Daniel Escobar for his achievements as an 2-7 actor and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success 2-8 and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Mr. Escobar as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
