R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Lou Miller has demonstrated a deep commitment to the

 1-2     San Antonio community as a candidate for the city council, and his

 1-3     efforts are indeed worthy of special legislative recognition; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, A democratic form of government depends on the

 1-5     informed participation of its people, and foremost among the

 1-6     system's participants are those dedicated men and women who are

 1-7     willing to make the sacrifices necessary to take on the role of

 1-8     public servant; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, The demands of the electoral process are great, and

1-10     candidates may continually find their resolve threatened during the

1-11     many twists and turns of the campaign trail; yet the difficulty of

1-12     this process is rivalled only by its importance, for it is through

1-13     the vigorous and public debate about issues that the seeds of

1-14     progress are sown; and

1-15           WHEREAS, In taking on this difficult challenge, Lou Miller

1-16     has joined the proud tradition of citizen leadership that has been

1-17     our nation's trademark for more than two centuries, and he can take

1-18     justifiable pride in the role that he has played in this noble

1-19     legacy; now, therefore, be it

1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-21     Legislature hereby commend Lou Miller for his exemplary civic

1-22     involvement and extend to him warmest best wishes for the future;

1-23     and, be it further

1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-1     prepared for Mr. Miller as an expression of high regard by the

 2-2     Texas House of Representatives.
