R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Linda Parks will retire from her position as Smith 1-2 County purchasing agent on May 30, 1997, thus bringing to a close 1-3 27 years of distinguished public service; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Ms. Parks began her career in county government as 1-5 an assistant county auditor in 1970; in 1980, County Auditor Tommy 1-6 League appointed her to her current post, and she has since served 1-7 with distinction under the leadership of Nancy Braswell; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The commitment that she has brought to this job is 1-9 apparent in the many innovative cost-cutting procedures that she 1-10 implemented throughout her tenure, and her diligence is credited 1-11 with saving Smith County taxpayers untold thousands of dollars; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Furthermore, this dedicated public servant completed 1-13 many hours of continuing education, and she offered her time, 1-14 talent, and expertise to numerous local committees, advisory 1-15 boards, and work groups; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Linda Parks is truly a valued resident of Smith 1-17 County, and as she embarks on this rewarding new chapter in her 1-18 life, she is indeed deserving of special legislative recognition; 1-19 now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-21 Legislature hereby honor Linda Parks on the occasion of her 1-22 retirement and extend to her warmest best wishes for continued 1-23 success and happiness in the future; and, be it further 1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-1 prepared for Ms. Parks as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-2 House of Representatives.
