                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Houston's Calvin C. Morris has dedicated himself to

 1-2     serving his fellow citizens on the local, state, and national

 1-3     levels, and this remarkable gentleman is indeed deserving of

 1-4     special praise and recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, A native of Potts Creek, Virginia, Mr. Morris is a

 1-6     veteran of both World War II and the Korean War; in 1984, he

 1-7     retired from a long and fulfilling career with the former Missouri

 1-8     Pacific Railroad, now the Union Pacific Railroad; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, This distinguished individual remains active in his

1-10     community, serving a number of civic organizations, including the

1-11     Shriners, the York Scottish Rite, and the Blue Lodge; he is a

1-12     member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace

1-13     Workers and has represented that body at many conferences and

1-14     conventions throughout the state; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Mr. Morris has long been an advocate of equal rights

1-16     on every level, and much of his life has been dedicated to the

1-17     fight for justice and democracy; few men have done more in behalf

1-18     of these noble causes, and we are fortunate to have individuals

1-19     such as him in our midst; and

1-20           WHEREAS, A devout Baptist and devoted family man, Mr. Morris

1-21     and his wife, Charlene, have been blessed with three sons and a

1-22     daughter; his humanitarian efforts have not gone unnoticed by his

1-23     family, friends, and neighbors, and his faith and generosity of

1-24     spirit are a true inspiration to all who know him; now, therefore,

 2-1     be it

 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-3     Legislature hereby honor the life and many accomplishments of

 2-4     Calvin C. Morris and extend to him sincere best wishes for

 2-5     continued success and happiness in the future; and, be it further

 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-7     prepared for Mr. Morris as an expression of high regard by the

 2-8     Texas House of Representatives.
