R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 William G. Laitner on his exemplary tenure as superintendent of 1-3 Amistad National Recreation Area; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Offering 67,000 acres of recreational opportunities 1-5 for fishermen, campers, hikers, and other visitors, Amistad 1-6 National Recreation Area in Val Verde County is one of the Lone 1-7 Star State's scenic wonders; and 1-8 WHEREAS, During his three years as superintendent, 1-9 Mr. Laitner has worked in concert with the State of Texas, the 1-10 chamber of commerce, and local businesses to make a number of 1-11 significant improvements to the recreational area, including paving 1-12 the campground and beach parking at Governor's Landing, adding 1-13 additional sites to the San Pedro Campground, and extending five 1-14 boating ramps to keep them in service during low water periods; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. Laitner and his wife, Patricia, are relocating 1-16 to the Pennsylvania-New Jersey area, where he has accepted a 1-17 similar position managing the Delaware Water Gap National 1-18 Recreation Area; and 1-19 WHEREAS, In recognition of Mr. Laitner's many accomplishments 1-20 as superintendent, a farewell dinner is being held in his honor on 1-21 June 5, 1997, in Del Rio; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The Amistad National Recreation Area is truly one of 1-23 the crown jewels in our state's scenic landscape; Mr. Laitner's 1-24 superb stewardship of the park has been marked by an unyielding 2-1 commitment to excellence and his notable accomplishments are indeed 2-2 worthy of special legislative recognition at this time; now, 2-3 therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby commend William G. Laitner for his exceptional 2-6 service as superintendent of the Amistad National Recreation Area 2-7 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success at his 2-8 new post; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Mr. Laitner as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
