R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The recent passing of Curtis Moody Armstrong, at the

 1-2     age of 76, has brought a great loss to the family and many friends

 1-3     of this esteemed Texan; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong was born in Tennessee and was

 1-5     graduated from The University of Texas College of Pharmacy in 1941;

 1-6     he remained active in his alma mater through the years as president

 1-7     of the college's alumni association; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, A World War II veteran, he was highly regarded as

 1-9     the owner and operator of the University Drug Store from 1948 to

1-10     1981 and Armstrong Pharmacy from 1972 to 1986; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong contributed greatly to his chosen

1-12     profession as a member of the Dean's Advisory Council of The

1-13     University of Texas Pharmaceutical Association and as an officer

1-14     and longtime member of the Texas and Bexar County pharmaceutical

1-15     associations; he was honored for his remarkable accomplishments

1-16     through the years, having been named Pharmacist of the Year in

1-17     1962, Retired Pharmacist of the Year in 1992, and Outstanding

1-18     Councilor of the Year in 1993; and

1-19           WHEREAS, This fine gentleman further served his fellow

1-20     citizens through his involvement in many worthy organizations; a

1-21     32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, he was active in both the

1-22     Jefferson Co-Op and the Jefferson Neighborhood Association, and he

1-23     played a vital role in the construction of the Morningside Manor

1-24     retirement center as chair of the center's building committee; and

 2-1           WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he was sustained by his faith

 2-2     as a devout member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where he

 2-3     was president of the Sunday school class and participated in many

 2-4     other activities, and he also addressed issues vital to his faith

 2-5     as a member of the administrative boards of the United Methodist

 2-6     Churches for 45 years; and

 2-7           WHEREAS, Curtis Armstrong touched the lives of many people

 2-8     during his years on this earth, and though his special presence

 2-9     will be deeply missed, his memory will long endure in the hearts

2-10     and minds of all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it

2-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-12     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Curtis Moody

2-13     Armstrong and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:

2-14     to his beloved wife of 48 years, Martha Ann Ansley Armstrong; to

2-15     his son, Daniel Curtis Armstrong; to his sister, Mae Eileen

2-16     Kroulik; and to the many other friends and relatives of this

2-17     distinguished gentleman; and, be it further

2-18           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-19     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas

2-20     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-21     Curtis Moody Armstrong.
