R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The recent passing of A. L. "Bubba" Everett, Jr., on

 1-2     May 9, 1997, at the age of 55, has brought a great loss to the many

 1-3     friends and relatives of this esteemed Waco resident; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, He was born May 19, 1941, in Waco and attended and

 1-5     was graduated from LaVega Schools and Texas State Technical

 1-6     College; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, An exemplary patriot, he served his nation with

 1-8     distinction as a member of the U.S. Air Force; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, He was a valued employee at Owens Brockway Facility

1-10     in Waco, where he was a master craftsman, and was also President of

1-11     the Central Texas Labor Council AFL-CIO and the Glass Bottle Blower

1-12     Association Local 220 AFL-CIO; and

1-13           WHEREAS, A true pillar of the community, he worked for the

1-14     betterment of his fellow citizens in such varied roles as President

1-15     of the Timbercrest Neighborhood Association, Trustee of the LaVega

1-16     Independent School District, and as a member of the Parks and

1-17     Recreation Commission of the City of Waco; and

1-18           WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Everett was a Master Mason and

1-19     member of the Bellmead Masonic Lodge #1329 and a charter member of

1-20     Timbercrest Baptist Church; and

1-21           WHEREAS, A. L. Everett, Jr., was a man of rare compassion and

1-22     generosity, and although his warmth and wisdom will be missed by

1-23     all who knew him, his remarkable spirit will surely live on in the

1-24     hearts of the many people whose lives he touched during his time on

 2-1     this earth; now, therefore, be it

 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-3     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of A. L. "Bubba"

 2-4     Everett, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his

 2-5     family: to his wife, Jan Everett; to his mother, Louise Everett; to

 2-6     his children, Andrea Williams, Sheryl Everett, and Lonnie Everett;

 2-7     to his four grandchildren; and to the many other friends and

 2-8     relatives of this beloved gentleman; and, be it further

 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-10     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas

2-11     House of Representatives  adjourns  this  day  it  do  so  in

2-12     memory  of  A. L.  Everett, Jr.
