R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Jetta Roberts, Vernon Haverstick, and Sally Johnson of El Paso for 1-3 their exceptional contributions to the State of Texas as members of 1-4 the Silver-Haired Legislature; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This esteemed organization is widely acclaimed and 1-6 admired for its success in developing leadership and in nurturing 1-7 good citizenship, and these three distinguished representatives to 1-8 that respected body truly embody those qualities; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Silver-Haired Legislature 1-10 has done an outstanding job of representing and identifying the 1-11 special needs of the elderly population in Texas; and 1-12 WHEREAS, For a democratic state to effectively serve the 1-13 needs of its populace, all of its citizenry must be both informed 1-14 and involved; through their work with the Silver-Haired 1-15 Legislature, Jetta Roberts, Vernon Haverstick, and Sally Johnson 1-16 have exhibited an unyielding commitment to active participation in 1-17 the governmental process, and their inspirational achievements are 1-18 indeed worthy of special legislative recognition at this time; now, 1-19 therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-21 Legislature hereby honor Jetta Roberts, Vernon Haverstick, and 1-22 Sally Johnson for their noteworthy efforts in behalf of their 1-23 fellow citizens as members of the Silver-Haired Legislature and 1-24 extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success and 2-1 happiness in the future; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-3 for these esteemed Texans as an expression of high regard by the 2-4 Texas House of Representatives.
