                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, David Hammel, Robert Montgomery, and Bill Wade have

 1-2     been elected to the Parker City Council, and it is indeed fitting

 1-3     on this occasion to recognize their contributions to the community;

 1-4     and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Although from widely disparate backgrounds, these

 1-6     notable Texans have in common a strong commitment to public

 1-7     service, and the residents of Parker are fortunate indeed to have

 1-8     secured their presence on the city council; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Hammel

1-10     is currently the director for mining technology for Phillips Coal,

1-11     and he has previously lent his extensive analytical expertise to

1-12     the Collin County Planning Board; he and his wife Genie have lived

1-13     in Parker since 1983 and take great pride in their children Scott,

1-14     Kristen, and Lisa; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Robert Montgomery also brings a strong technical

1-16     background to the council, and he applies to his work as a computer

1-17     programmer the same keen intelligence and lively curiosity that

1-18     characterize all his endeavors; relative newcomers to Collin

1-19     County, he and his wife Rosemary have already established

1-20     themselves as valued neighbors, and Mr. Montgomery is a proud

1-21     member of the Parker Volunteer Fire Department; and

1-22           WHEREAS, Bill Wade is a highly respected veteran of Parker

1-23     city government, having first been elected to the council in 1972;

1-24     well known throughout the region as a top-flight furniture

 2-1     appraiser and auctioneer, he is a charter member of the Texas

 2-2     Auctioneer's Association Hall of Fame and was instrumental in

 2-3     organizing and developing the Parker Volunteer Fire Department; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, Citizen participation in the workings of government

 2-5     is the cornerstone of the democratic process, and those Texans who

 2-6     dedicate their time and talent to this vital work are truly

 2-7     deserving of our gratitude and admiration; now, therefore, be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-9     Legislature hereby congratulate David Hammel, Robert Montgomery,

2-10     and Bill Wade on their election to the Parker City Council and

2-11     extend to each of them sincere best wishes for continued success

2-12     and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further

2-13           RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared

2-14     for these accomplished Texans as an expression of high regard by

2-15     the Texas House of Representatives.
