No. 1335 75R17393 BNL-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Bill Collins and Mike Whitcomb have contributed 1-2 greatly to the community of Wylie through their service to the 1-3 school board, and the Texas House of Representatives is pleased to 1-4 honor them at this time; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Collins, a native of Wylie who works as 1-6 operations manager for AmeriGas Propane, is now serving his third 1-7 term on the board and has served as its president; during his 1-8 tenure, the district opened a new high school, improved fiscal 1-9 accountability, and enhanced its technological capabilities, and 1-10 his goals for the board include enhancing the district's ability to 1-11 attract talented staff by offering more competitive salaries and 1-12 continuing to improve academic standards and parental involvement; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, A member of the Wylie Lions Club as well, 1-15 Mr. Collins has enjoyed a fulfilling 17-year marriage to Anita 1-16 Collins, and the couple are the proud parents of three children, 1-17 Leighann, Amanda, and Clayton; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Mike Whitcomb is beginning his second term on the 1-19 board, and he has also served as president of the Wylie High School 1-20 Band Boosters and as a member of the Career and Technology 1-21 Committee; in his previous term on the board, he aided the 1-22 district's expansion efforts and helped to develop an improved 1-23 working relationship between the school board and both the City of 1-24 Wylie and the Birmingham Land Board; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Mr. Whitcomb is a manufacturing engineer with 2-2 Raytheon-E Systems--Richardson; he and his wife of 24 years, Olean 2-3 Whitcomb, have been blessed with five children, Chris, Mark, 2-4 Melissa, Jennifer, and Hollie, and their family has grown in recent 2-5 years to include six cherished grandchildren as well; and 2-6 WHEREAS, The children of the Lone Star State depend on the 2-7 hard work and dedication of citizens such as Mr. Collins and 2-8 Mr. Whitcomb, and through their efforts, these distinguished 2-9 gentlemen have set a fine example of service and leadership for 2-10 their fellow Texans to emulate; now, therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-12 Legislature hereby honor Bill Collins and Mike Whitcomb for their 2-13 service to the Wylie school board and extend to them warmest best 2-14 wishes for continued success and happiness in the future; and, be 2-15 it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-17 prepared for Mr. Collins and Mr. Whitcomb as an expression of high 2-18 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
