                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The death of Alec Michael Salinas on May 7, 1997,

 1-2     brought a tremendous loss to the family and friends of this special

 1-3     little boy, and the members of the Texas House of Representatives

 1-4     join them in mourning his passing; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Born February 4, 1994, Alec was blessed with a

 1-6     bright smile and a warm personality, and he captured the hearts of

 1-7     all who were fortunate to know him; in his courageous fight against

 1-8     his illness, Alec benefited tremendously from the love and support

 1-9     of his family and many friends, and in return he brought great joy

1-10     into their lives; and

1-11           WHEREAS, One of Alec's fondest dreams was to go to Disney

1-12     World to see Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse, and thanks to the

1-13     generosity of the Fort Worth community, his loved ones were able to

1-14     make this dream come true; his godmother, Cristina LaValley, and

1-15     aunt, RoseMary Camacho, held raffles to cover expenses for the

1-16     trip, and one compassionate donor anonymously provided the family

1-17     with a $600 certificate to cover airfare; and

1-18           WHEREAS, Throughout his life, this remarkable child displayed

1-19     resilience, determination, and strength beyond his years, thus

1-20     proving that the mightiest of spirits can exist in the smallest of

1-21     bodies; in recognition of his valor and courage in facing his

1-22     illness, he was awarded the Purple Heart; and

1-23           WHEREAS, Although his time with us was much too brief, Alec

1-24     Michael Salinas was a cherished and welcome presence in this world,

 2-1     and though we must bid him a reluctant farewell, his memory will

 2-2     endure forever in the hearts and minds of all those whose lives he

 2-3     touched; now, therefore, be it

 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-5     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alec Michael Salinas

 2-6     and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his

 2-7     parents, Daniel Morin Salinas and Lucinda Salinas; to his brother,

 2-8     Erek Daniel Salinas; to his grandfather, David Salinas, and his

 2-9     wife Ramona Salinas; to his grandmother, Victoria Jimenez; to his

2-10     godparents, Timothy and Cristina LaValley; to his aunts and uncles,

2-11     David Salinas, Jr., Elida Gonzales, Estella Lucio, Elisa Martinez,

2-12     Rachel Juarez, Michael Salinas, Ray Martinez, Crissy Martinez,

2-13     Roger Salinas, J. C. Salinas, Juan Jimenez, RoseMary Camacho,

2-14     Catalina Santanna, Peter Jimenez, Luis Jimenez, Virginia Juarez,

2-15     Leticia Martinez, and Michael Jimenez; and to all the relatives and

2-16     friends of this beloved child; and, be it further

2-17           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-18     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas

2-19     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-20     Alec Michael Salinas.
