                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Yvonne Lopez Delgado recently earned her master's

 1-2     degree in deafness studies and deaf education from The University

 1-3     of Texas at Austin, and this noteworthy achievement is indeed

 1-4     deserving of special legislative recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, A 1988 graduate of Jack C. Hays High School,

 1-6     Ms. Delgado went on to study communication sciences and disorders

 1-7     at The University of Texas at Austin, with a concentration in

 1-8     deafness studies; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, She completed her undergraduate degree in 1995 and

1-10     went on to pursue graduate studies in her field; a member of the

1-11     National Hispanic Honor Society, she was graduated from the

1-12     master's program with an impressive 3.72 grade point average, and

1-13     she is now certified to teach elementary education, special

1-14     education, and deaf education; and

1-15           WHEREAS, While pursuing her studies, Ms. Delgado made time in

1-16     her busy schedule to participate in the SADA club, Students

1-17     Advocating Deaf Awareness; she also expressed her love of children

1-18     through her work with the Extend-A-Care children's program and with

1-19     a third grade church class; and

1-20           WHEREAS, Ms. Delgado is the daughter of David Lopez, Jr., and

1-21     Rosie Lopez, and she recently celebrated her second wedding

1-22     anniversary with her husband, Austin Police Officer Luis Delgado

1-23     III; her family undoubtedly takes great pride in her many

1-24     educational achievements, and it is a privilege to join them in

 2-1     honoring this outstanding young woman; now, therefore, be it

 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-3     Legislature hereby congratulate Yvonne Lopez Delgado on the

 2-4     completion of her master's degree and extend to her warmest best

 2-5     wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further

 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-7     prepared for Ms. Delgado as an expression of high regard by the

 2-8     Texas House of Representatives.
