R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes special 1-2 pleasure in honoring Joe Anthony Perez on the occasion of his 1-3 graduation from the University of Chicago; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Having recently completed the requirements to 1-5 receive a master's degree in social work, he will graduate from 1-6 that fine institution on June 13, 1997; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Mr. Perez is recognized by his professors and his 1-8 fellow students to be an accomplished young man, and his 1-9 commendable efforts have placed him at the threshold of a promising 1-10 career in his chosen field; and 1-11 WHEREAS, A world traveler, he was graduated from high school 1-12 in Japan and began his higher education at the University of 1-13 Houston, where he attained his bachelor of arts degree in 1-14 psychology in the spring of 1995; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In addition to his academic achievements, Mr. Perez 1-16 has taken an active role in the political process in Illinois and 1-17 in Texas, and while in Houston he was instrumental in the founding 1-18 of H.A.T.C.H., an organization that provides a sheltering and safe 1-19 haven for at-risk teenagers; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Attaining a master's degree is truly a notable 1-21 milestone, for it represents the culmination of years of work in 1-22 the academic arena, and in light of this achievement it is indeed 1-23 appropriate that Joe Anthony Perez receive special legislative 1-24 recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby congratulate Joe Anthony Perez on his graduation 2-3 from the University of Chicago and extend to him sincere best 2-4 wishes for continued success and happiness in the future; and, be 2-5 it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for Mr. Perez as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-8 House of Representatives.
