R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Beatrice "Bea" Sauseda 1-2 Quintero on May 19, 1997, at the age of 56, has brought great 1-3 sadness to the many friends and relatives of this beloved woman; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born September 8, 1940, to Ygnacio and Hilaria T. 1-6 Sauseda, she was one of five children in the close-knit Sauseda 1-7 family and was graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston; 1-8 and 1-9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Quintero married Fernando Quintero, who, along 1-10 with her beloved father preceded her in death; this cherished woman 1-11 enjoyed nearly three decades of mutual love and devotion with her 1-12 husband before her passing and was blessed with four fine children: 1-13 Brian Anthony, Therese, Donald and Fred Gregory, whose obvious 1-14 admiration and affection for their parents greatly enhanced their 1-15 happy home life; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mrs. Quintero was endowed with the spirit of 1-17 volunteerism, and constantly gave freely of her time and talents to 1-18 benefit such worthy causes as the Junior LULAC and TMO; for 25 1-19 years this dedicated woman had the joy of working for the M. D. 1-20 Anderson Cancer Center, first as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, 1-21 then as a Volunteer Coordinator; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Spiritual strength was the hallmark of this 2-2 remarkable woman's life, and she demonstrated her abiding faith as 2-3 an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Houston where 2-4 she taught religious education and served as both a music minister 2-5 and a Eucharistic minister; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Even when stricken with the illness which eventually 2-7 claimed her life, this compassionate individual continued to place 2-8 the welfare of others before her own, easing the burden of her 2-9 family and fellow cancer patients with her warmth and limitless 2-10 optimism; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Beatrice Sauseda Quintero was a woman of rare 2-12 compassion and strength; although her kind presence and gentle love 2-13 will be greatly missed by all who knew her, her remarkable spirit 2-14 lives on in the hearts of the many people whose lives she touched 2-15 during her time on this earth; now therefore be it 2-16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-17 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Beatrice "Bea" 2-18 Sauseda Quintero and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her 2-19 family: to her sons and their wives, Brian Anthony and Viviana 2-20 Quintero, Donald and Monica Quintero, and Fred Gregory Quintero; to 2-21 her daughter and her husband, Therese and Richard Mackert; to her 2-22 mother, Hilaria T. Sauseda; to her brothers and their wives, Paul 2-23 and Graice Sauseda and Rudolph Sauseda; to her sisters and their 2-24 husbands, Pearl and John Coronado, Hortencia and Cruz Barelas, and 2-25 Lamberta and Pete Vargas; to her grandchildren, Richard Paul II, 3-1 Rachel Marie and Victoria Rene Mackert, and Donald Patrick 3-2 Quintero; to her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Aurelia and 3-3 Aurelio Quintero; to her many brothers and sisters-in-law in Bryan, 3-4 Sommerville, Houston, Galveston and Richardson, Texas; to all of 3-5 her nieces, nephews, and cousins; and to the many other friends and 3-6 relatives of this beloved woman; and be it further 3-7 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 3-8 for the members of her family and that when the Texas House of 3-9 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Beatrice 3-10 Sauseda Quintero.
