R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to 1-2 honor the Highland Park High School baseball team on its 1-3 outstanding season and to wish its members well in the upcoming 1-4 state tournament; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Led by Head Coach Lew Kennedy and Assistant Coach 1-6 David Johnson, the Scotties compiled an impressive 20-9 record 1-7 during the season and will attempt to top off this year's 1-8 outstanding campaign with a state title; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The team's trip to the Class 4A state tournament 1-10 marks the first time in more than 40 years that a Highland Park 1-11 High School baseball team has participated in this exciting event, 1-12 and the faculty, staff, and students of the school are justifiably 1-13 proud of these talented teammates; and 1-14 WHEREAS, In addition to emphasizing the fundamentals of the 1-15 Great American Pastime, the young men who make up this year's team 1-16 have demonstrated the desire and drive of champions in their quest 1-17 for the coveted state crown, and their passionate pursuit of this 1-18 goal is truly deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be 1-19 it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-21 Legislature hereby congratulate the Highland Park Scotties on their 1-22 participation in the 1997 Class 4A state tournament and extend to 1-23 them sincere best wishes for continued success in their 1997 title 1-24 run; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for the members of the team and coaching staff as an 2-3 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
