 1-9                                   AN ACT

1-10     relating to the designation of a portion of United States Highway

1-11     87 in Bexar County as the Bishop Ernest T. Dixon, Jr., Memorial

1-12     Parkway.

1-13           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-14           SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,

1-15     is amended by adding Section 225.034 to read as follows:

1-16           Sec. 225.034.  THE BISHOP ERNEST T. DIXON, JR., MEMORIAL

1-17     PARKWAY.  (a)  United States Highway 87 from its intersection with

1-18     Interstate Highway 410 in Bexar County to its intersection with

1-19     Loop 1604 is designated as the Bishop Ernest T. Dixon, Jr.,

1-20     Memorial Parkway.

1-21           (b)  The department shall design  and construct memorial

1-22     markers indicating the highway number, the designation as the

1-23     Bishop Ernest T. Dixon, Jr., Memorial Parkway, and any other

1-24     appropriate information.

1-25           (c)  The department shall erect a memorial marker at each end

1-26     of the parkway and at intermediate sites along the parkway that the

1-27     department determines are appropriate.

1-28           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-29     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-30     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-31     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-32     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

1-33     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

1-34     passage, and it is so enacted.
