AN ACT

 1-1     relating to the rights of a victim of a delinquent child.

 1-2           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-3           SECTION 1.  Subdivision (3), Section 57.001, Family Code, is

 1-4     amended to read as follows:

 1-5                 (3)  "Victim" means a person who as the result of[:]

 1-6                       [(A)  is the victim of] the delinquent conduct of

 1-7     a child suffers a pecuniary loss or personal injury or harm [that

 1-8     includes the elements under the penal law of this state of sexual

 1-9     assault, kidnapping, or aggravated robbery;]

1-10                       [(B)  has suffered bodily injury or death as a

1-11     result of the conduct of a child that violates a penal law of this

1-12     state; or]

1-13                       [(C)  is the owner or lessor of property damaged

1-14     or lost as a result of the conduct of a child that violates a penal

1-15     law of this state].

1-16           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-17     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-18     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-19     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-20     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
